CBD Education

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of over 60 cannabinoids (“active chemical compounds'') in the cannabis plant.  CBD is the second-most abundant cannabinoid behind THC, while maintaining similar properties except for psychoactivity.

What’s the difference between cannabis & hemp?

Cannabis and Hemp are two varieties of the same species of plant (Cannabis Sativa L.).  If a variety of Cannabis Sativa L. contains under 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis, then it classifies as hemp.

What’s the difference between CBD and THC?

THC and CBD tout similar medicinal value, but most notably is the difference in psychoactivity and federal legality.

Will your CBD products get me high?

No, CBD will not get you high. It's non-psychoactive.  THC, not CBD, is the molecule that binds to receptors in our brain and is the one responsible for the psychoactive effects of THC-dominant cannabis.

How do I take CBD?

Most CBD products are taken orally, under the tongue and held for 60 seconds before swallowing for maximum absorption. Topical creams and ointments are also effective in addressing targeted areas of pain and inflammation, by applying as necessary.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, as long as they are derived from hemp, not marijuana, and contain less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis. No medical marijuana card or recommendation is required to buy or use hemp-derived CBD products.

Does CBD affect appetite?

CBD has been shown in certain cases to mildly suppress appetite.  Additional clinical data is necessary to determine efficacy in broader-use cases.

Can You Get Addicted to CBD?

CBD is recognized as non-habit forming.

What Are Terpenes?

Terpenes are a family of naturally occurring compounds found in most plants.  Terpenes are responsible for the scents and flavors of most plants including cannabis and hemp.  While functioning as a natural defense mechanism, Terpenes play a large role in the physiological effects of a formulation.

Is it possible to take too much CBD?

Though every person’s endocannabinoid system is unique, research has shown limited concern with toxicity and over consumption of CBD products.

How often can I take CBD?

CBD can be taken multiple times throughout the day, as needed.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

As with any herbal supplement, it is best to consult a medical professional prior to use in conjunction with other medications.

I have a gluten allergy. Can I use your products?

Yes. All Prospect Farms products are gluten free.

Dogs

Will Prospect Farms products get my dog “high”?

Can I give my dog these products if they are on medications?

Please consult your veterinarian before giving your pet our products if they are on medications.

How long will it take to notice results in my dog?
